GRF Prepares for Abi Action

The Global Rainbow Foundation together with delegates from Amar Jyoti, visited several schools and centers for those with disabilities this week to prepare for their upcoming event, Abi-Action. This event is meant to help spread awareness about people with disabilities and encourage them to participate in vocational activities to show that they do not lack ability, but have a different kind of ability and talent instead.

Some of the activities to be carried out during the Abi-Action campaign are a conference in July and a film festival. The event will end with an exhibition and the launching of the first Abilympics competition in Mauritius; the aim of which is to send the winning participants to the international Abilympics and represent the country.

The Abi-Action campaign focuses on a few keys themes such as ICT and disability, Spirituality and disability as well as the Abilympics. Abi Action and the Abilympics are all about people with disabilities practicing vocational skills such as basketry, wood carving, pottery, jewelry making, flower decoration and many more.
